About Linda

Meet the author, Linda Skerbec

First book of poetry written over many years

For Let The Light In, Linda has drawn on her deep love for nature she has nurtured and written about over many years plus her experiences as a wife, mother, teacher, and therapist. She feels that she has always been connected to the vitality of life and nature. Facing a life threatening illness from age four through five, Linda learned to discover miracles all around her: the sunlight that created rainbows on her wall, the scent of freshly-cut grass, a bright ladybug that flew in and brought the outside into her, and kindness in the eyes of doctors and nurses, who answered her questions and brought hope.

About Author

Meet Linda Skerbec

Time spent alone awakened Linda’s keen sensitivity to life and a deep faith that blesses her with strength, love, and insight. Also, her father, a physician, who read and sang for his family each day, filled her heart with the joy and rhythm of words and music–plus he inspired her with his love of learning, his dedication to healing, and the wonder of the special roses he grew. She remembers her mother pausing to watch the sunsets and noting the changing colors of the seasons. Linda, in turn, invites you take time to notice the brilliant ways that light flashes on a hummingbird’s wings. Then, truly feel the gentle touch and scent of a rose and breathe in the deep fragrance of a gardenia the gives its grace to you and asks for nothing in return…

Luke Rickford, Linda’s Editor writes:

“As the sun is rising, Linda likes to go outside and breathe in the Light that fill her hands and soul with the life that growing and singing all around her. What can be made holy today by her vision and insight?  What is made whole by the words inside her poetry? Her poems invite you to draw close to nature –and to experience her breadth of wonder and feeling through the brilliance she gives back to life through her words… Carefully she creates her art of poetry –choosing where to place each precious word to catch the light as she writes. She brings her poetry to others to share where she has been and what the Light has revealed to her.”

Linda spent years teaching English and Creative Writing and heading the English Department and writing curriculum for the Palo Alto School District.
