About Book

Introduction:

Let the light in

Throughout her life, Linda has learned that you can build A Refuge of Light inside yourself by finding opportunities to take in wonder. Consciously slow down each day and experience the blessings that are happening around you. Go beyond the surface glance and use your senses to truly focus and cherish what comes to you. Save the experience inside yourself.

Look for small wonders that bring you joy.

Close your eyes and feel the warmth of the sunlight on your eyelids and how this warmth flows into you. Breathe deeply and take in—a fragrance you sense in the air and the kindness you feel in the voice and eyes of people who are helping you. Make time to sit quietly and watch the way light gleams through the patterns in leaves. Listen to songs that uplift your spirit and sing along and let the music fill you.

Linda shares how you can learn to live in what she calls The Flow—where you experience blessings that are coming to you—and then, in turn, bless others. Take time to give a genuine thank you or compliment to someone – and perhaps you’ll meet an angel who has come to help you!

Share tomatoes or flowers from your garden. Invite a person to take a walk with you or to sit and enjoy having tea together.

Watch for butterflies and lady bugs, and rescue a bee that’s fallen into the water.

Spend time simply loving and playing with your pet. Plant milkweed for humming birds.

Discover the hidden colors that you can reveal with a fluorescent light and show these to others.

Go on adventures with friends and feast on ripe blackberries.

Spend a day at the beach with a friend and notice the gifts that have wash up: seashells and rocks
and bits of driftwood.

Look for tiny fish that light up the water and notice the rainbow bubbles you see in the foam.
Then – look farther out and perhaps find dolphins and whales rising in the ocean.

“Light is the greatest unnoticed force of transfiguration in the world: it literally alters everything it touches and through color dresses nature to delight, befriend, inspire and shelter us”

-John O’Donohue
